

Andy Cunningham
Andy Cunningham was born in Galston, Ayrshire January 30 1890. He started his career with Newmilns before joining Kilmarnock where he played for 6 seasons. He joined Rangers in 1915 and was to remain at the club until 1928. In his 13 years at Ibrox he won 7 League titles and was also a member of the famous 1928 Rangers squad that ended the 25 year wait for Scottish Cup victory. He was also honoured by Scotland picking up 12 international caps and scoring 5 goals, His international record was quite impressive he was only on the losing side once. After leaving Rangers he joined up with Newcastle United as player manager. At the time he was the English leagues oldest debutant at the age of 38. he after retiring from playing he became full time manager and led Newcastle to FA Cup glory in 1932 defeating Arsenal 2-1 at Wembley.
He left Newcastle in 1937 and returned to Scotland to become Dundee manager where he remained until 1940. After the war he started a career as a sports writer. In 1973 he was invited to Ibrox to kick of the centenary game against Ajax, he sadly died later that year aged 82
